Lilly and Friends
is one of the latest of the 'floral collection' I'm putting together for my framer's window.  I found this photo in my photo collection, it's been there a while...just waiting to be painted!  I really enjoyed this one.  The colors are rich and vibrent, standing out against the dark background.

I painted the background a bit differently...using a 'lifting technique'.  I first applied the dark greens then when completely dry painted clear water where I wanted the 'hint' of foliage...laid a paper towel  on top and applied pressure.  This process lifted off just enough color to indicate the leaves you see here in the background.  I then added a bit of 'yellow'...presto,  we have leaves.

I hope to soon have pictures of the window display...they really outdid themselves this time.  It is so rewarding to see such a display with all my paintings hanging so beautifully framed.

Hi Marsha,
Your flowers are gorgeous and you are getting so much better at your watercolors.
Keep up the good work.
Ruth

I agree with Ruth! They are gettin better and I love the rose one! Hope you have a great weekend!

Ruth and Sharee,
Thanks for the nice comments...I do feel I'm getting a better handle on the water color. We are indeed becoming better friends. For so log it was a "love - hate" relationship!
I'm working on a Gladiola at the moment. I'm hoping to maintain the soft pink tones of the petals. They are just like velvet...want to relate that. It should be done this weekend.
Thanks again for stopping by and taking time to leave your thoughts.

I love to check in on your site occasionally as your work is gorgeous. I love your floral watercolors.

Marsha...I have followed you for a little while and am very impressed with your watercolor works. I mostly paint in oils...you make watercolor seem so easy!

As always Marsha, your work is just beautiful! Stunning!
