My Artist's Life

Some days my life is quite black and white, on other days my life is full of color.
Some days I'm a little flippant, and on others...it's just all business.

A huge thanks for contributing your thoughts.
Enjoy your visit,

The Story Behind the Image: Have you ever looked into your rose garden on a warm summer night when there is a full moon. Take a look sometime, you'll find your roses dancing in the moonlight!

I thoroughly got into this drawing. I swear I could almost feel the velvety petals in my mind as I worked. I applied carbon directly to the paper in the deep creases of the petals, using a stump to blend towards the areas touched by the moonlight. I then applied graphite with a chamois square to the brightest highlights and used a 6B carbon pencil to fill in the background.

White Daisy in Field

Marsha Robinett / 4 Comments

I was ready to start painting for my framer's September Wine Window when she ask if I had any flowers she could use in her spring and summer display.  Well, I jumped right on that!.  I've been painting like a fool here...for the most part it's been good.  Yet we all know how watercolor can rear it's ugly head and totally change the direction of the painting. (at least for me)

I've learned a lot by keeping my brushes and watercolors active these past couple of weeks..mainly that I have "much yet to learn and the road is going to be long."!!

The watercolor painting "White Daisy in Field" was actually supposed to be called Three White Daisies...but as you can see there is only one flower...Urghhhhh!!  I struggle so with the backgrounds.  I had planned for a variegated wash but as you can see , it didn't happen.  Don't tell, but there are two more daisies under the green grass on the left. Again, the background took control of the situation.  I was just glad to have salvaged the painting.

*You can see more of my watercolor paintings in My Little Paintbox collection.

Spring Blossoms...new watercolor

Marsha Robinett / 4 Comments

This is the latest from 'My Little Paint Box'
... my framer is getting ready to do her spring window so trying feverishly to get some new spring inspired watercolors done.  Spring Blossoms is just one of two done thus far. This photo was taken of a tree in bloom...I wish I knew what kind of tree it was.  I couldn't find out then and still have no idea!

The photo is fairly accurate except for the left side.  There are subtle leaves within the dark background that the camera just did not capture.  You can see more of my watercolors in "My Little Paint Box" collection on my website.

On a different subject...I have a HEALTH UPDATE:

I'm not going into detail...but I have been 'issue free' for 14 days now. I'm believing that I'm on the mend. This has been a long ordeal (almost a year)...I feel like for the first time in months I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

I just want to say thank you for the encouraging emails and prayers. God does listen and does answer if we just believe.

Bless you for caring,
Marsha
